A spoonerism flips the initial sounds of two (or more) words, usually with hilarious results. The phenomenon is named after Reverend William Archibald Spooner of Oxford, who allegedly toasted Queen Victoria as the “queer old dean” instead of the “dear old queen” [^2^].
